This collection is marked by the use of Jarina Seeds for the bags’ closures. The seed comes from a palm tree of the same name in the Amazon forest. Due to its color and shine it is often compared to Ivory and referred to as a rare organic gem. It has been used as a viable alternative to animal Ivory, and is considered the noblest Amazon seed for artisanal uses. The harvesting of these seeds is also an extra source of income for local Amazon communities.
The collection also features hand-woven leather straps. Cowhide leather, an animal byproduct, is used after a life-extending curing process. This material, known as “Floater”, is soft and pleasant to the touch, and is characterized by the deliberate breaking down of the leather grain by tumbling it in a drum.
